I know this one is sure to get me banned for life - but what the heck u only take the ride once - right?

Bob Weir could have been anybody - as what has happened to the music since 95 proves.

defintely don't agree with you one tiny bit - but that is cool - we are all entitled - the dead wouldn't have been "the dead' without weir either - no way no how

That's it...you're banned. We've been over this before. No Bob bashing allowed, or he might not be able to put his kids through college.

Of course, I have no such power, and I sort of agree with you, but I do think that the boys had something as a group--the whole being greater than the sum of the parts kind of thing. Not sure what would've happened if Bob had died...would that be the proper experiment? (Sorry Bob, kinda harsh, but we forumites like to consider all possible scenarios in our discussions.)

Whoops...looks like I just banned Dire; damn, if only I understood what Max meant about how to post under a poster...lets see, first I select the poster's name, right click while dragging the mouse with a left click toggle motion, and chanting, 'don't screw it up, don't screw it up,' and then...ah, f**k it...

I have no problem with him - even ponied up to see Ratdog a few times - the LAST (first time since the fat man left us) being last summer - there is no reason he needs to play so many Jerry tunes

why not??? not problem with that as far as i can see - Jerry treated him like his little brother - why shoudn't Bob honor him as his big bro?? Alot of people seem to have a problem with this and i just dont see it - sorry man - please don't respond - dont want an argument tonight - it is what it is.

Never seen Ratdog myself, neither the bearded nor non-bearded versions. However, if Bob wants to play Jerry tunes, it only shows respect for the fat man, and not disrespect on Weir's part. "Imitation" is the highest form of compliment an artist can give to another.

Maybe in the long run run it would be better if nobody played Jerry/Hunter tunes anymore. Then there would be no reason to go hear LIVE music and party and dance and have fun! The world would be a much better place for all if those damned Garcia songs just went away!!!!!!

Good call on the little brotherpart, little brother...

Not sure where this will land on the thread, so I hope it makes sense.

No, it doesnt make sense. You're banned too, forever.
p.s. I actually didnt intend to start a Weir-bashing thread. I love Bob Weir and the GD would not have been the same without him, for better or worse.

Ya, we both said it friend, 'bout the same time. I mean, i know that it's easy to employ a reflex action against Weir for his 'see ya' comments and the whole soundboard thing, but at the end of the day, what this archive offers and what the GD have given the world and its fans for the thirty years they were around, i don't know man, but i've got no problems with Weir and company. Yes, i'm of course partial to Jerry ... but that's nothing against Bob and his immense contributions to the GD sound.

ive got no problem with the boys either - after all this time has passes and we still have what we have here - that one instance of "see ya" is long forgotten. it was a comment made ( i believe) during an interview after a show (i.e. late) - lord knows the comments that have flown around here late at night that havent been meant the way they came across. I'll give Bob the benefit of the doubt since that was the only negative comment ive heard from the man since then. and since then, all has been cool. actually, since the boards have been pulled, this site has been so much more fun and ive met so many more cool people and got into so much more trading, it has really been a godsend - i'm really much more happy now than i was last year - and that is no lie - this is awesome thanks to you and the other great members of the LMA!!!
